Westchester Association of Women Business Owners plan reunion

March 15, 2010

Several former presidents of the Westchester Association of Women Business Owners (WAWBO) have planned a WAWBO reunion for Monday, March 15. Anyone who was ever a member is encouraged to RSVP for this grand networking event.

"Many of us still do business with each other and see each other on a social basis. Whenever we run into an 'old' member we reminisce about how much we enjoyed being a part of WAWBO, so we thought it would be a great idea to do a networking event to reconnect with old friends and business associates," stated Risa B. Hoag, President of the organization from 1993 - 1995.

WAWBO was established in 1979 in response to the "old boys' network." Women business owners throughout Westchester and Rockland felt they had no place to turn to network with each other and decided to band together to increase their business opportunities. The organization at its height had more than 300 members but over the span of 27 years had more than 1,500. WAWBO was eventually folded into the Alliance of Hudson Valley Business Women in 2006.

The event will take place from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM at Morton's The Steakhouse at 9 Maple Avenue in White Plains. To RSVP, send an email to Risa Hoag at risa@gmgpr.com or call 845-627-3000. The cost is $15 for those who send a check, $16 for those who sign up online using PayPal (to register visit www.gmgpr.com) and $20 at the door. Attendees will enjoy Morton's Bar*Bites menu and each attendee will be able to purchase their own beverages.
