Walden Federal hosts homebuyers workshopMarch 11, 2010
Walden Federal will host a Homebuyers Workshop on Thursday March 11, from 6 – 8pm, at the Mortgage Loan Center.
The Homeownership Assistance Act of 2009 has established a tax credit of up to $8,000 for qualified first-time homebuyers purchasing a principal residence and up to $6,500 for qualified existing homeowners purchasing a principal residence before April 30, 2010.
“This means that a homebuyer’s closing costs may be covered by this tax credit – a tremendous savings,” stated Thomas Gibney, presidnt of the bank. “And there are many homes on the market from which to choose. This is truly a great time to buy a home.”
At Walden Federal’s Homebuyers Workshop, local mortgage representatives will provide more information and answer attendees’ questions. The topics that will be discussed will include construction loans, first time homebuyer programs (SONYMA and USDA) and the tax benefits of closing by June 30, 2010. Additionally, attendees can apply to be pre-qualified for a home loan, which gives a homebuyer additional negotiating and buying power. Refreshments will be served.
Information on the federal tax credits is available at www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com, sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders.
Space at the Walden Federal Homebuyers Workshop is limited. To make a reservation, please call Donna at the Walden Federal Mortgage Center at 845-778-5371 or toll free at 800-249-3832.
